About the Artist

Hello! I've been a fiber artist for 20 years. It all started with making mohair teddy bears. I found them so endearing, I still have my first teddy that I have had since I was 1 year old. Apparently my mom let me hold him in the store while she shopped and we strolled right out with him lol! So she turned around and bought him for me. He has been with me ever since. I also have the teddy bear my husband gave me when we were high school sweethearts. I think teddy bears have a special place in everyone's heart so I was drawn to the artistry of making the original style of bear.

I also began making old Izzana Walker style dolls from cloth and wool. That was my first encounter with wool roving. I couldn't believe how soft it was. I eventually began spinning wool (I love all things old if you can't tell) along with crocheting and knitting. Through this I discovered needlefelting.

I needlefelted a few bears and dogs and then eventually got into acrylic and watercolor painting. This took over for some time but I still loved wool and how soft it was.

Then one day I realized that I could paint with my wool. I was in love. Not only could I do this but I could sculpt and make durable children's toys. Everything I loved in one warm, natural and forgiving medium.

So here I am today, felting fine art and children's items from wool and loving every minute.

My work is also available through Prairie Pastimes gallery in Cottonwood Falls, KS. It has also been featured in the Living Felt Newsletter.
